Now common PCB microporous technologies, in addition to carbon dioxide drilling and laser beam drilling, there are mechanical drilling, photosensitive hole, laser drilling and plasma etching.
Mechanical drilling is made of high-speed machinery, one of the most important things is the drill bit, tungsten-cobalt alloy are generally used for drills. The tungsten-cobalt alloy used tungsten carbide powder as the base, cobalt as a binder, by high temperature, high pressure sintering, so the drill bit is with high hardness and high wear resistance. And it is easy to drill the required holes.
Laser drilling,it is made of carbon dioxide and ultraviolet laser cutting. Gas or light beam, with a strong thermal energy, they can burn through the copper foil and form the required hole. It is same principle with cutting, the mainly important is control light beam.
Plasma etching,in plasma, the spacing is large between particle and particle, Particles are in a constant collision randomly, and its thermal motion similar to ordinary gas. Plasma etching holes are mainly used for resin copper layer PCB, and use of oxygen-containing gas as the plasma, when it contacts with copper, there will be an oxidation reaction, and then remove the resin material to form a hole.
